1995年の山野BBJCが記念すべき初CD化の大会。便宜上、上のリストでは曲ごとに番号振ってますが、実際のCDでは大学ごとで1トラックという、手抜き、もといライブ感溢れる仕様となっています。

まさかのONJからの引用。この頃だと超マイナーなバンドだと思うのですが、アンテナの広さは流石というかなんと言うか。
・11曲目 Beyond The Seventh Galaxy
（performed by Doshisha Univ. The Third Herd Orch.)
Return to Foreverのアルバム、Return To The 7th Galaxy収録のBeyond The Seventh GalaxyとHymn Of The Seventh Galaxyを足して割ってフルバンアレンジしてます。全編全力疾走って感じで、ブラスの人達血管ぶち切れるんじゃないかと心配するような出来栄え。この曲が終わって、次の曲が始まるまで不自然に長い間があるのですが、休憩時間なのか、と思ったり。
というか、同志社サードハードはこんな昔から独自路線をひた走っていたのが良く分かる記念碑的な意味合いもあったり。10数年後に同アルバムのVulcan Worldsをフルバンアレンジして山野で演奏しているというのも興味深いところです。
・14曲目 Night Flight
（performed by Toyama Univ. Love & Peace Jazz Orch.)
ネスティコのNight Flightをやるバンドが存在して、あまつさえ入賞しているというのが「時代だなあ」と感じざるをえません。これ書いている2010年現在、各校が独自路線を押しす進めているのと、どメジャー曲となっているこの曲をコンテストで演奏する勇気のあるバンドなんて無いでしょうから、これまた歴史を感じさせる1曲であります。

Maria SchneiderのEvanescenceが発売された年なわけでして、ライトやハイソが早速取り上げていますな。そっかー、もう15年前になるのか（この文章執筆時、2011年）。今や定番と言ってしまっても差しつかえないですが、当時としては先鋭的だったのでしょう。話は逸れますが、Maria Schneiderは最近のキレイ系路線だけじゃなくて、Evanescenceの頃みたいな変態的な曲をまた書いてくれないかなあ、と常々思っています。
・7曲目 Fresh Impression

当時のプログラムを見るとChick CoreaのPhantomって曲をやる予定だったのが、何があったかは分かりませんがCarla BleyのFresh Impressionに変わっています。オリジナルの後半のラッパソロをギターソロに変えている以外ほぼ原曲ままですな。これはこれで良い曲なのですが、Phantomのフルバンアレンジも聴いてみたかった所です。
・10曲目 The Tounch Of Your Smile
（performed by Waseda Univ. High Society Orch.)
原曲は原曲で良い演奏なのですが、ハイソ版（ラッパソロを削ったりちょいと構成変えてます）も良い塩梅。特にラストのソプラノサックスのソロの音色は個人的に大好きです。原曲よりも美しさ3割増って感じで。

私をコンテンポラリーフルバン好きに傾倒させたきっかけとなった一枚。そして、元ネタを探すためにいろいろと調べたり買ってみたりとしていくうちにさらにその道に転んでいき、結果、こんなサイトを作ってしまったわけで。何がきっかけになるのかわからんもんだね。
・1曲目 But Where Is The Exit?

圧倒的なカッコ良さのBut Where Is The Exit?、圧倒的な緊張感のThe Evil Face of Sorrow、圧倒的な完成度のKnow Where You Areと、過去のハイソの演奏の中でベストアクトだと個人的に思っているのがこの年の演奏。選曲も俺的ツボに嵌まり過ぎる。ハイソでは珍しく、ギターソロを2回もやってくれているのも嬉しいところです。
・4曲目 Dinner With Friend
（performed by Osaka Univ. The New Wave Jazz Orch.)
出ている音はソロを含めてオリジナルのほぼ完コピなのですが、ノリとか勢いとか、仕上がりはオリジナルとは全くの別物。それが悪いかというと、そんな事は全く無く。むしろオリジナルを含めた世界に数多あるDinner With Friendの中でこの演奏が最もお気に入りなのです。
あと、この頃の山野CDってMCまでちゃんと入っているのですが、何故か任侠物調。演奏の勢いも凄いんだけど、MCの勢いもそれに劣らず凄まじい。最近のCDもMCまで入れて欲しいんだけどなあ。阪大とかMCも含めてのパフォーマンスですよね。
・9曲目 El Vito El Gran Tamano
（performed by Doshisha Univ. The Third Herd Orch.)
前曲のSketches Part 8はオリジナルに忠実に演奏してましたけど、こっちはソリストの都合か原曲のアレンジにちょくちょく手を加えた感じ。世界観の表現力が素晴らしい。んで、良い曲だとは思っているんだけど、後のサードハードの演奏でこの曲の再演率が妙に高いのは何故なんでしょう。
・12曲目 I Got A Rhythm

One O'Clock Lab Bandによる変態的アレンジのI Got A Rhythmを演奏。あの怒涛のサックスソリとか良くやったなあ。そしてこの出来で4位とか、この年どんだけレベル高いねんって話でして。
